The “Broken Pieces Collection”

The “Broken Pieces Collection” was an idea that came to me after watching a lady work with shattered glass.  She used them on canvas, as well as some wood projects.  I could not believe how those simple pieces changed the project. She arranged the pieces of glass, and after she had them just the way she wanted, she poured resin over the pieces. This gave the project and unbelievably Fantastic Glass-like Shine!  And, of course, as a “Crafty” type…. I wanted to try it.

So, as I was in bed …..awake…. one night I had the idea to use this technique on my Easel Art designs.  (Which are door-hanger templates that are shrunk down to 14 inches.)  As soon as the first one was complete I fell in LOVE with these pieces. Who knew a little broken glass would make a difference.

Their unique look, the shiny coating, it was all beautiful. However, while I was on the computer one evening the thought of those shattered pieces of glass was stuck in my head. And my thoughts kept drifting toward families this time of year that find themselves in broken situations. I was trying so hard to focus on the task I needed to complete…. but then the idea come to me that I should do more with these pieces than just make them. I needed to find a way to take these broken pieces and use them to help those that find themselves in broken families. So. My search began and I looked up all the organizations in my local community that helps families. At this time I have narrowed the organizations down to three that I feel led to give a portion of the sales from these special pieces to.

If you would like to know more about the “Broken Pieces Collection” or the organizations that I will be assisting with a portions of the sales, please feel free to contact me via email: quiltedtreasures.more@gmail.com
